The 29th session of the 10th term Quang Nam Provincial People's Council discussed and unanimously voted to pass the Resolution on the establishment, merger, and reorganization of specialized agencies under the Provincial People's Committee.
Accordingly, the Department of Construction was established based on merging the Department of Transport and the Department of Construction; the Department of Finance was established based on merging the Department of Planning & Investment and the Department of Finance; the Department of Science & Technology was based on merging the Department of Information & Communications and the Department of Science & Technology
The Department of Agriculture & Environment was established based on merging the Department of Agriculture & Rural Development and the Department of Natural Resources & Environment; the Department of Home Affairs was established based on combining the Department of Labor - Invalids & Social Affairs and the Department of Home Affairs; the Department of Ethnic Minorities & Religions was established based on the Provincial Ethnic Minorities Committee receiving additional functions, tasks, and organization of the state management apparatus on beliefs and religions from the Department of Home Affairs; the Department of Foreign Affairs was merged into the Office of the Provincial People's Committee.
Thus, from 19 affiliated professional agencies, after establishment, merger, and reorganization, the Provincial People's Committee has 13 units left (equivalent to a reduction of 31.6% compared to the Central Government's requirement of 15-20%).
