This morning, September 21, Comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee and secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee led a working delegation of the province to inspect the actual landslide situation and direct the work of stabilizing the population for 33 households in Tak Chay village (Tra Cang commune, Nam Tra My).
Due to the heavy rain lasting from the night of September 17 to September 18, landslides and cracks occurred in Tak Chay village (village 5) in Tra Cang commune. 33 households/175 people were affected, of which 20 households/98 people were relocated and arranged to live together, temporarily at the village school, remaining 13 households/77 people continue to migrate.
Through assessment, the landslide did not cause any loss of life or property, but with a large number of households needing urgent evacuation, it caused difficulties for the locality. In addition, the determination of safe resettlement sites continues to be closely assessed based on research from various sectors and consensus from the people. In the immediate future, Tra Cang commune has organized a meeting with the people to discuss the resettlement plan and at the same time, provided rice and cash support to help people equip themselves with living tools during the process of building temporary houses.
At the inspection, Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet acknowledged and appreciated the locality's initiative in promptly evacuating and stabilizing the people's spirits. The Provincial Party Secretary requested that Tra Cang commune and Nam Tra My district continue to thoroughly grasp the documents of the Central, Government, and Province on disaster prevention and response.
The Provincial Party Secretary also requested that the locality strengthen propaganda, update information, and promptly warn people and schools about the risks of floods and landslides. It is necessary to detail more plans for response, prevention, and recovery from natural disasters. Fully disseminate to essential forces to advise and implement promptly when incidents occur. In particular, it is necessary to focus on directing early the work of food and food reserves, urgently evacuating and arranging residents. In the immediate future, Tra Cang commune must complete the evacuation of the remaining 11 households by September 23 at the latest.
