Heavy rain warning in Quang Nam province

On the morning of December 11, the Quang Nam Provincial Hydrometeorological Station reported that in the past 24 hours, localities in the province had scattered rain and showers. The total rainfall from 7:00 a.m. on December 10 to 7:00 a.m. on December 11 was generally below 20mm, with Xuan Binh (Nui Thanh) alone receiving 25mm.

It is forecasted that from 10:00 a.m. on December 11 to 10:00 a.m. on December 13, localities in the province will have moderate rain, heavy rain, and very heavy rain in some places. The total rainfall in the northern mountainous areas of the province is generally from 70 - 120mm, with some places being higher than 150mm; in the southern mountainous areas and coastal plains, it is generally from 100 - 200mm, with some places being over 250mm.

From December 13 to December 15, localities in the province will continue to have moderate rain and heavy rain, and some places will have very heavy rain, with rainfall ranging from 70 - 150mm and over 200mm in some places.

Meanwhile, on the morning of December 11, the water level on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon and Tam Ky rivers is changing slowly and is below alert level 1 (alarm 1).

Warning from today (December 11) to December 15, 2024, rivers in Quang Nam province are likely to experience a flood. During this flood, the flood amplitude in the upstream reaches 3.0 - 5.0m, and in the downstream reaches 0.5 - 1.5m.

Heavy rain causes a high risk of floods, flash floods, in rivers and streams in mountainous areas, landslides on steep slopes, and small rivers and streams; flooding in low-lying areas and densely populated areas can negatively affect production, traffic, people's lives and property; and affect socio-economic activities of localities in the province.
