Tam Ky promotes propaganda to protect the sea and island sovereignty for fishermen
On the afternoon of May 15, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tam Ky city coordinated with Tam Thanh Border Guard Station to organize a conference to propagate the work of protecting sea and island sovereignty and preventing illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing (IUU) and to donate means of livelihood and provide financial support to fishing households in difficult circumstances.

At the conference, the reporter of Tam Thanh Border Guard Station informed about the situation of the sea and islands and current legal regulations, especially Resolution 04/2024/NQ-HDTP dated June 12, 2024 of the Council of Judges of the Supreme People's Court on guiding several provisions of the Penal Code on acts related to illegal exploitation, trading, and transportation of aquatic products, to help fishermen raise awareness and comply with the law when operating at sea. Along with the propaganda activities, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city presented means of livelihood to 4 fishing households in difficult circumstances, with a support level of 5 million VND each to buy fishing gear. In addition, the program also provided financial support to 8 other fishing households to help them stabilize their lives and confidently go to sea.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tam Ky city also implemented social security programs such as "Helping children go to school" and "Adopted children of the Border Guard Station," which are also very meaningful to support students who are children of fishermen in difficult circumstances to continue going to school. At the same time, many practical gifts were also presented to officers and soldiers of Tam Thanh Border Guard Station, demonstrating the close connection between the government, people, and the force protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands.
This is a meaningful and practical activity, contributing to raising awareness in the work of protecting territorial sovereignty, proactively preventing violations of the law in seafood exploitation, and at the same time contributing to strengthening the spirit of solidarity between the army and people, creating a combined strength to firmly protect national border security in the new situation.
