On the evening of April 15, Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Tran Nam Hung chaired a working session with the World Bank (WB) delegation led by Ms. Yoohee Kim - Manager of the Global Urban, Sustainability, and Land Department, East Asia - Pacific Region to accelerate the implementation of the Integrated Adaptive Development Project in Quang Nam Province.

The Integrated Adaptive Development Project in Quang Nam Province has a total investment of more than VND 2,722 billion (equivalent to nearly USD 113.4 million), of which ODA loans from the WB are more than USD 76.5 million, accounting for more than 67.5% of the total investment. The expected implementation period is from 2022 to 2030. The project is implemented in Tam Ky city and Duy Xuyen, Thang Binh, and Nui Thanh districts, including the following main items: Dredging 60 km of Truong Giang River, building 6 new bridges across the river; Investing in a complex of flood drainage works in Tam Ky city, connecting from Dam River Lake to Truong Giang River; Building embankments at locations at risk of bank erosion, combined with anchoring fishing boats to avoid storms, etc.
At the working session, Ms. Yoohee Kim - Head of the World Bank delegation highly appreciated the spirit and drastic participation of the Provincial People's Committee and related Departments, branches, and localities in promoting the implementation of the project. Ms. Yoohee Kim also expressed her belief that the project will create a new turning point for urban development, sustainable agriculture, and climate change adaptation in the locality.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Tran Nam Hung once again emphasized the extremely important role and significance of the project, contributing to improving infrastructure capacity, minimizing natural disaster risks, and promoting livelihoods for people in areas affected by climate change. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Nam Hung also highly appreciated the support of the World Bank and experts in promoting the implementation of the Quang Nam Province Integrated Adaptive Development Project. The Provincial People's Committee has directed the Departments, Boards, branches, and related units to actively complete the necessary documents and procedures to start the project.
